The sculpture „Supervision No.1“ gives us a reflection of the dreariness of togetherness, stuck and incapable and yet so comfortable and safe. This video sculpture is the first in a continuing series. Seen from a distance, it resembles a hard, repellent stone. But as you get closer, lured by the soothing sounds (the soundtrack), the surface becomes softer and more attractive, just almost inviting. The piece unfolds in front of the viewer, almost like a creature with a story to tell. A story about humanity and being human.
The video shows two elderly people. A couple quietly sharing a meal side by side and yet somehow together. The viewer is invited to observe two people and their coexistence. The dull imagery and the dismissive attitude of the protagonists reveal a complicated and multi-layered interpersonal relationship; the intimate togetherness can appear both oppressive and reassuring.
